Cold Rainy Christmas 2011

Christmas in the Philippines is almost always rainy — a wet season. In fact, there’s a lot of areas in the countries that are flooding now because of continuous rain. This is somehow the same and equivalent to the snowing in other countries.

However, if in other countries battery-heated clothing are in-demand like the CozyWinters.com heated vest to help overcome the cold weather, here in the country, what many are using are just simple long-sleeved jackets or sweat shirts. Pajamas or jogging pants are the usual pairs of these suits.

Can you imagine how Filipinos celebrate the cold rainy Christmas 2011?

Philippines has World’s Worst Airport

It’s like a slap on the face to every Filipino especially for the government that the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 (NAIA-1)  is now being regarded as the WORLD’S WORST AIRPORT.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 (NAIA-1) lifted from Wings900.com

Let me first share to you some of what I’ve read from webpages online about the NAIA 1.

This is the very first which I read a week ago from a travel blogger’s blog. “Let’s start with the international airport. Ninoy Aquino International is exactly the same as it was all that time ago; the same awful green lino when you arrive, the same over-crowded Departure Hall, nowhere to sit if your check-in desk isn’t open. Once through security you find the same down-market shops, toilets that don’t work or are “under repair” and very few F&B places.” Philippines – Manila – Awfully Disappointing

The second that I read was from a website on airports, Sleeping In Airports, wherein Manila, Philippines ranked first as the worst airports in 2011. Some travelers commented and posted on the site mentioning the “thieves and extortionists dressed in uniforms” and even said that “airport employees are the worst money hustlers around”. These, perhaps, are ample words uttered for me to ask if are they technology-wise enough to use electronic pickpocketing devices? But not that much, I guess.

And the most recent, is from the Philippine’s leading telecommunications webpage article, From 5th worst, NAIA-1 now world’s worst airport.

I could not say anything more but this is really a very shameful truth. I guess, this is now a call for the government to act something on this.

UP Pep Squad performs in Azkals game vs Nepal

After bagging home the cheerleading champion title for this year, the UP Pep Squad performed their shortened winning cheer leading routine in the Azkals game versus Nepal in Rizal Memorial Stadium last Tuesday.

I haven’t seen the shortened version live during the game of Azkals verus Nepal, I just made use of the online video uploads because of my class. As usual, UP Pep Squad was doing great. They really were fighting and still standing high for the name they have been carrying for more than three consecutive years – the cheerleading champion in the country bagging the cheerleading trophies.

The UP Pep Squad will be joining the Cheerleading World Championship this coming November 26 and 27, 2011 in Hong Kong.

More power UP Pep Squad!

The heiress just recently posted on her twitter account saying “Love my stylist here @Bea_Constantino. She is putting me in the most beautiful dresses. Loving all the Filipino designers, so talented!” and “I love the food in the #Philippines! So delicious! Loves it :).

As a Filipino, off course, it’s very flattering and heart-warming to read such appreciation from an international and a Hollywood actress. Who doesn’t like to hear such then?

University of the Philippines Mindanao Tops in the Philippine University Rankings

Humbly sharing to you that my Alma mater, University of the Philippines Mindanao, located in Davao City, Philippines, is now unstoppably ranking in several universities and school ranking sites in the country.

I actually was looking for affordable but of good quality barcode scanners when I stumbled upon the PhilStar.com news written by Isagani Cruz and was published on August 04, 2011 about the ranking universities. And I am very glad reading my school‘s name on there aside from other University of the Philippines top ranking schools.

Yay! That is really a very great achievement for University of the Philippines Mindanao and other campuses.

Kudos to UP Mindanao!

4-day Long Weekend in August 2011

At least for a medical student, and others and government workers, it’s just like a reward to have a 4-day long weekend next month of August 2011.

long weekend

Accordingly, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said August 29, a Monday, and August 30, Tuesday, were declared to be non-working holidays on a radio interview.

Aren’t this a good news to all? Let’s all party for the 4-day Long Weekend in August 2011!

SM City Cebu on Independence Day 2011

Since it was M’s birthday yesterday, we went to SM Cebu City to stroll and look for whatever we could do for his special day. While walking together inside the mall, we passed by in a Philippine flag made of coconut leaves heart-shaped rice pouches.

Ain’t it something new from SM City Cebu on Independence Day 2011?

Anyway, we actually went there, aside from planning to have M a blast for his birthday, to look and buy speakers for him since the newest set of speakers he had just on January this year was recently broken. He can’t pinpoint who did it because he happened to notice the damage of his speakers only when we get back here in Cebu City after our Bacolod City trip last month, May 2011. He forgot to keep his speakers inside his locker in the barracks – those were just left on his shelf beside his bed. Knowing that then, he felt anxious but he can’t blame and rant to anybody but only to me. LOL. So we then decided to better purchase a new one than crying over the spilled milk – broken speakers.

However, after I set a surprise dinner for him, the day just ended and we both forgot to buy speakers. Maybe, we could next time – there’s always a next time.

AirPhil Express P100 Sale

Just as the school year in medical school has started and my summer vacation has just ended as well with my latest Bacolod City trip last week, AirPhil Express is launching today its P100 (One Hundred Pesos ONLY) Seat Sale Promo. And now I am making my calendars colored and getting my dakine bags packed again for another trips to have even just within the country.

Seat sale promos are the best, so far, opportunities to be grabbed when planning a vacation or any travels. As its name itself implies, seat sale promos, are absolutely cheaper than the regular fares. Thence, even how many among the family or friends are planning to travel can surely go and fly because of the cheap price of just P100 offered.

Nothing to worry also with the baggage to carry because of the FREE 15 kilograms baggage per traveler or flyer. So for me, personally, I could carry all along my traveling dakine bag which I brought recently in Bacolod City. The bag contained my 3-day long personal stuffs which I could say very convenient to use since I didn’t bring any other bag aside from my purse with my wallets, mobile phone and other stuffs with me. It even carried the pressies – goodies from Bacolod City, for my friends when I flew back here in Cebu City. The bag is really good fro traveling even how long the travel period or not, carrying more loads of stuffs and more. So with the planned trip that I am having now, more or less by grabbing the AirPhil Express P100 Seat Sale Promo, I’d be having with me my traveling dakine bag again.

Anyway, the AirPhil Express P100 Seat Sale Promo selling would only be today, May 30 2011, up until tomorrow, May 31, 2011. The travel period of the seat sale promo will be between this coming August 1 to September 30, 2011.
