Just yesterday, I blogged about the fires which I witnessed when I was on my way to the hospital. You can read it here, Cebu City Fire this Morning.

But that actually was just the fifth fire in Cebu City this March 2012, the latest, the 6th fire in Cebu City this March 2012 was in Pardo, southern part of Cebu City which killed 3 individuals. They are Esperanza Aberyon, 75; Rosalie Tagacanao, 35; and her nephew, Raphael Dulalia, 5.

It’s not new to me to hear a firetrucks’ siren sing almost everyday. Yes! Believe it or not, there’s always a fire anywhere in the city of Cebu.
This morning, when I was about to go to Miller Hospital, a second fire this day happened in Barangay Pasil, Cebu City.

I was able to capture a photo of the smoke while riding on a taxi cab. Just bear with my hand image.
Days before the Sinulog 2012 grand parade, I’ve already read a post from a Cebu-based blogger friend regarding the Free WiFi access in Cebu City.
Sinulog 2012 — FREE WiFi in Cebu City
Indeed, there were areas in Cebu City during the grand parade and the celebration of Sinulog 2012 where WiFi access was free. These areas were Gorordo to Fuente Osmeña Circle, General Maxilom Avenue, Osmeña Boulevard, selected areas in North Bacalso Avenue and P. del Rosario, Cebu City Hall, Provincial Capitol, the Cebu City Sports Center, Magellan’s Cross and Plaza Independencia.
According to PLDT, the WiFi provider, this is yet the first outdoor FREE WiFi access made available.
When I and some classmates, who are not originally coming from Cebu City ~ just came and stayed here to study, once have had dinner and was able to share thoughts about the possible solutions which need to be done so to lessen the fire victims. We know that fire incidences are merely accidents. No one plans, except who really did, to have fire happened but generally, no one wants to get burnt.
We really pointed out the victims. What we mean is that the fire won’t easily scatter to the point of eating by burning those 100-meter away houses from the point where the fire originally started. The best thing to do is to make each houses and building concrete. Perhaps, steel buildings are far better to live in Cebu City.
Another thing is to refrain from overcrowding a very small area just to build and make a house to live.
Those basically are what we were trying to point out.
Could you believe that in my fourteen months of stay here in Cebu City I personally saw more than ten fire events just in the city itself?
The worst thing among all? It was the fire just 100 meters away from my apartment last June 2011. The fire happened early morning around 1:00 AM. Next to that fire event were those two different fire events happened around the vicinity of our school, from the nearby houses of Southwestern University along Urgello Street. The first fire even where a part of our school – the Maritime College building was put into fire happened last year, if I still have the correct figures, it happened around August 2010 last year. And the latest fire event in school was still on June 2011 where in the Natural Science College was also burnt.
The very latest fire even I saw was yesterday noontime. Just timely when I about to check the ATM of the Land Bank of the Philippines along P. del Rosario Street, huge black to gray colored smoke was almost to cover the whole are of the street due to the very recent fire. I didn’t know where exactly the fire was, I’m not really particular and certain with the streets in Cebu City yet. But I took a shot of the smoke.
Pardon with my image here. It’s not really that of good quality compared to images taken by a digital camera. I just made use of my iPad camera in taking that image. Rest assured, nothing edited on that image but just the watermarks.
Accordingly, one of the main reasons why there are fire events happening in Cebu City is because of the poor electrical wiring management along those crowding small houses wherein the owners are into renting businesses and even making internet cafes available for students. There, in fact, no surface raceways for cables and wires on there houses. I guess, this is one point which the government should put an eye on to.
I was supposed to hunt for something cool to do last weekend like going to the beach, do trekking, bird watching using a hunting binoculars or anything that is an outdoor thing . Just missing those environment-friendly stuffs I used to do before when I was in college.
But since the weather here in Cebu City is not that friendly to me, it seems like a woman experiencing PMS. A very mad moody woman, it may seem; one cannot predict when and how long a sunny hours would take and suddenly, a heavy windy rainfall came. Urgh! I ended up, last weekend, staying in the house of my classmate’s uncle and slept over there for just 3 hours.
Ernhez, my classmate in medical school, brought me to his uncle’s house in Brookfield Subdivision, Lapu-lapu City this morning. He just fetched me up in one of the nearest malls from my apartment here in Cebu City since I have had a transaction earlier this morning. After which, I still had my manicure and pedicure and then, we drove to Lapu-lapu City.
After an hour drive, if I am not mistaken, we finally arrived at his uncle’s house. As what Ernhez used to share to me, his cousin was the very first to welcome us. His cousin, I forgot the name, is very talkative. She likes to talk and even play with me. Being not-so-close to kids, I just played in a while with his cousin. She moved her toys from her room to the living room. She put all of her clays which are formed into cakes in their sofa that is looking like a bench indoor-style.
Not too long playing with the 3-year old kiddo, Ernhez and I went to the mall in Lapu-lapu City to buy us some ice cream. As soon as we finished our shares at home, we both fell asleep. LOL! This is really our problem, the both of us. Every after we finish eating and feeling full, we always feel so sleepy. Even in school, we are feeling sleepy as well that sometimes we can’t stop ourselves but to take a nap even inside the library.
We really took a nap, as we call it. At first, I was hesitant to lye down in the sofa and was about to look for just an outdoor furniture bench. But since it was very hot outside and I was feeling really sleepy then, I just opted to take a nap in the living room. But the nap turned to be a sleep that we both wake up only after 3 hours. LOL!
Call center agencies is one of the highest leading companies making the countries economy somehow boost. But it’s so sad to know that the lives of each call center agents in Cebu, most specifically those who are assigned in a graveyard shift schedule, are into a high risk of getting raped, nabbed and more.
Just recently, one call center agent in Cebu was reported being raped after 2 men dragged him in a dim garbage area walking alone on her way home early in the morning after her work.Good thing barangay police, tanods as named locally, were able to rescue her and brought her at a public hospital.
This ain’t good to all call center agents. However, a very good example also to learn that each agents should not be walking home alone to avoid this incidence. And this is also a good point to all the policemen and other authorities in the area to be keen enough on doing their jobs in making the area peaceful.
Thinking about the call center agent – victim, I am just wondering if are there any benefits the company, where she’s working, has extended to her even just a little help? Is this instance is still covered with the companies work injury benefits? I am getting curious, anyway, because I have read like the work injury lawyer St Louis firm having accident lawyer St Louis who process legal terms of benefits each company employees could receive. But hey, this is just what I am getting curious of. I don’t know much of call center companies.
Anyway, hope the agent will be fine soon.
Sometimes, when I am feeling boredom inside my room and only my medical books, medical school stuffs and my desktop computer are what I could always see, I thought of looking for any jobs here in Cebu City that fit for me.
Every Sunday, what I used to do is to buy a local newspaper here in Cebu City to look for jobs available. However, I seldom find jobs applicable for Bachelor of Science in Biology graduate. Instead, jobs for mechanical engineers are flooding. In a page or two of that local newspaper here, one could surely read and check an ad for mechanical engineers available for fresh graduates and for those with job-related experiences as well. Even a part time jobs for BS Biology graduates, I prefer a part time job because of my medical schooling, almost always no jobs available to such.
Do this means that I don’t need a job even a part time one? Or maybe, mechanical engineers are just in-demand for now? I don’t know.
