After PABLO, here comes QUINTA

After typhoon Pablo has hit the country so badly that it even caused a large damage not just on our living but to many Filipinos in Mindanao, specificially in Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte and Davao Oriental, Agusan del Sur and Surigao provinces, there’s another tropical depression which is expected to show up today, December 25, 2012, Christmas Day 2012 in the country.

Tropical depression QUINTA is located centrally at 400 km East of Surigao City which produces maximum winds of 55 kph. It is also moving towards west at 19 kph. Quinta is also expected to make rainfall in Dinagat Island this coming Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 in the morning. And in Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, this will produce rains over East of Cuyo Island and on the following day, it will move to Northwest of Puerto Princesa in Palawan.

So Filipinos, let us make ourselves ready for this new typhoon coming. And always pray also for the Lord God to safe guard us from this natural test.

Top 10 Annuity Rates

In as early as 10 years old, I already had my personal time and savings deposit accounts in three different banks. I personally didn’t know what and how “time deposit” works before, but because my father advised me to open an account, I didn’t hesitate to follow him then. What was very clear to me then was the information on “savings account” only.

However, as time goes by, and as learning keeps coming and being absorbed, I was also equipped with enough knowledge on how to save money in the banks. I got to know, though not that very competitive compared to real business and e-commerce personalities, how money moves and grows when saved or being deposited in the banks. I took time to learn on annuity values and even knew the Top 10 Annuity Rates which includes Athene and Guggenheim Life and Community Annuities.

Moreover, I got a bit of problem for this year’s earning and bank deposits. It seems like 2012 ain’t so productive for me in terms of earning online. Hopefully, the coming 2013 will be good.

How To Make Your Granny’s Birthday Extra Special

For grandparents, every birthday should be celebrated in a special way as much as possible because they wouldn’t know if it is going to be their last. They’ve already come of age and anytime their physical body can no longer take it.

Before horrible things happen, make their day extra special by giving them what they want. If you’re on tight budget, and can’t hold special parties, you may check to have a glimpse on the possible gifts that you can give them. They have wide selection of birthday gifts for seniors and all other gadgets that could make their living comfortable.

If still you can’t figure out how to make their birthday special, you ask for their favorite songs when they were still young and try to compile it in DVD and play the songs during their special day. This could surely make them happy and remember the good old days.

Another great way of making their day extra special is by letting them visualize the past. Grab their good old photo album and turn on your scanner. Make an audio-visual presentation and for sure they will love it. Make use of today’s technology to bring back those moments that they’ve been keeping in the past. They might not be able to remember everything but through your effort to make it happen, they can have an idea and feel the happiness once again. These are priceless moments and even more appealing compared to those expensive parties wherein they don’t know most of their visitors.

Reality TV Contest Upsets That Changed the Face of Music

There have been several reality shows on TV about singers that compete for their chance at fame. Three of the most popular shows, however, are American Idol, The Voice, and The X Factor. Each of these shows relies on votes from either the audience or judges (or both) to determine the winner. Of course, this scenario often leads to upsets — and yes, there have been plenty.

American Idol was the original singing talent reality show. It has been on TV since 2002, where the original judges were Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul. Several celebrity judges have come and gone from the show since the first season including Kara DioGuardi, Ellen DeGeneres, Steven Tyler, and Jennifer Lopez. The current judges are Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, and Mariah Carey.

Here are some historical upsets seen on American Idol:

  • Fans exploded when Jennifer Hudson was voted off the show in 2004, speculating about racism and lack of votes due to a power outage in her home city.
  • Katharine McPhee beat out Chris Daughtry in 2006, but he went on to sell over 5 million copies of his first song.
  • In 2008, David Archuleta won the hearts of young girls around the U.S., but was voted off the show in favor of David Cook on the last show.
  • Adam Lambert was surprisingly voted off the show in 2009. Some people claim it might have been because his sexual orientation was not entirely clear.
  • In 2011, Casey Abrams was saved by the judges when he received the fewest amount of votes.
  • Nobody knows why Pia Toscano got the fewest amount of votes, but it certainly shocked the judges when she was voted off the show in 2011.

The Voice on NBC

On The Voice, contestants are judged based on their singing ability, but the judges are not as harsh as the judges historically seen on American Idol. Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and Cee Lo Green give constructive criticism to the contestants. The gimmicky clips of bad auditions are also left off this show.
Here are some of the upsets seen on The Voice in its short run time:

  • Juliet Simms, a Rocker chick, and favored winner, was beat out by the R&B crooner, Jermaine Paul, on Blake Shelton’s team in 2012.
  • Disgruntled contestant, Hailey Steele, was booted from the show after a sing-off against Moses Stone where she refused to talk to the cameras.

X Factor on Fox

This reality show debuted in the U.S. in 2012. It was originally a U.K. series that was very similar to both The Voice and American Idol. The judges are Simon Cowell (originally from American Idol) Britney Spears, L.A. Reid, and Demi Lovato. The twist this reality show brings is that each of the judges mentors the contestants, instead of just providing criticism.

There haven’t been many upsets yet because the show is so new, but here is one:

  • Astro was put in the bottom two after an awesome performance of “I’ll Be Missing You.” Some people believe it might be simply because of his hip-hop, rap genre. Others say it might be because of his age (15).

Both The Voice and The X Factor are newer reality shows, so they have not seen as many upsets as American Idol. Of course, even if your favorite contestants get voted off a show, that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to hear their music again. Some go on to perform top hits. You can also go to their concerts to support them. Previous contestants from American Idol perform on American Idols live, and some contestants from other shows have their own concerts.
