Google doodles Martha Graham’s 117th Birthday today.
If you noticed it, it’s an animated dance moves or choreography forming a GOOGLE word. It’s because, Martha Graham is an American dancer and choreographer who is known as the pioneer of modern dances. In fact her dance choreography is comparable to the paintings of Picasso, music of Stravinsky and the works of Frank Lloyd Wright in architecture.
“I wanted to begin not with characters or ideas, but with movements . . .I wanted significant movement. I did not want it to be beautiful or fluid. I wanted it to be fraught with inner meaning, with excitement and surge.” –Martha Graham
Martha Graham’s works, not just made a name, but rather transform the music and dance era. Some of Graham’s dance students are Paul Taylor and Merce Cunningham and other popular dance performers. She created the Martha Graham Dance Company.
